France Part 1

Bonsoir!

Here again after 6 months. So we had this trip to France with a camping van last week. After working the full year it was time to plan the vacation of the year. We drove from Barcelona to Marselle by discovering the French coast line. This trip was nothing to do with the luxury hotels and pools. It was all about beach living with all the basics you need and enjoying life as its purest.

Täällä taas 6 kuukauden jälkeen. Vuosittainen loma vietettiin ajellen Ranskan rannikkoa vuokrapakulla. Lähdettiin Barcelonasta ja viimeinen kohde oli Marseilles. Kyse ei ollut mistään luksuslomasta. Reissu oli elämistä pakettiautossa kierrellen rannikon rantoja ja nauttiessa yksinkertaisesta elämästä.

On this first post I will be taking you through our first day when we crossed the border of Spain and France seeing all those beautiful little Mediterranean villages. Our first stop was Cadaquez in Spain. It is said to be the most beautiful village in Spain by some outsources. I wouldn't deny it. We stopped by the Far del Cap de Creus a coast line over the sea. The heat was hitting hard but the view was worth it. The roads were spectacular with its tremendous geological formations.

Tässä ekassa postauksessa kerron ensimmäisestä reissupäivästä, jolloin me ylitettiin raja Ranskan puolelle. Me ajettiin rannikon mutkikkaita teitä kauniiden Välimeren kylien läpi. Eka stoppi oli Cadaques, joka jonkin arvion mukaan Espanjan kaunein kaupunki. En kyllä tätä väittämää mene epäilemään. Seuraavaksi pysähdyttiin näköalapaikalla Far del Cap de Creus, josta oli uskomattomat näkymät rannikolle. 

From there we continued to the France. We crossed the border by driving over a mountain, and narrow roads, that separates those two countries. We arrived to France safe and sound. A little stop to admire our conquest and we continued driving to our first accommodation for the night. We stayed on a little bay inner land in Port Leucate. The place was quiet so that we could enjoy a good night sleep.

Sieltä matka jatkui Ranskaan. Ylitimme rajan mutkittelevia teitä pitkin korkean vuoren yli. Itse oli niin kauhuissaan, etten pystynyt edes kuvia ottamaan. Saavuimme Ranskaan onnellisesti. Yövyttiin rannikolla pienellä mannerpläntillä, joka oli meren muodostaman järven rannalla. Paikka on hiljainen ja nautimme ensimmäisen yön hyvillä yöunilla.

So the first day was a success. We drove over 300 km by crossing the border of France. I remembered why I fell in love with France the time when I was 15 years old. On the next post our journey will continue..

Elikkä ensimmäinen yö oli oikea menestys, lukuun ottamatta niitä itikoita.. Me ajettiin ekana päivänä yli 300 kilometriä ylittäen rajan. Seuraavassa postauksessa matka jatkuu

LET'S GO TO SKI

Hello everybody!

So this is what happened! A woman who has lived her whole life nearby the ski resort went to down hill ski, for her first time, in Catalunya! Quite embarrasing eh? Well I've never really been a winter person. I did do ice skating and cross hill skiing but never even tried a snowboard Well what do you know! I had to try it someday didn't I? But I gotta say that I LOVED IT!

So we went to Masella ski resort up to Pyrenees. We took a coach from Barcelona to Masella around 6:30 am. The trip takes around 2,5 h along the breathtaking area of Pyrenees. The coach returns at 6 pm so you have enough time to have some fun in the snow. The whole day costs only 72€ that includes renting the gear and transportation.

Elikkä mitä tapahtui! 20 vuotta Kajaanissa asuessani en koskaan ole käynyt laskettelemassa. Tilanteita oli kyllä, mutta ei vaan tullut mentyä mäkeen. Häpeä! Pitipä sitten tulla Kataloniaan asti laskettelemaan. Pitihän sitä joku päivä kokeilla. Ja olihan se nyt hauskaa!

Me mentiin Masellaan, joka on Pyreneillä Espanjan puolella. Koko reissu maksoi 72€, johon kuuluu bussimatkat ja laitevuokra. Ei paha yhtään!

So as it was my first time on skis (only down hill ones). I did grumble and stumble at first. After the slow start I quickly cathed up the game. As the chidlren's hill started to feel easy we went all the way to the biggest ones. So what happened? The hill was steeper and longer than I expected. I stumpeled and fell so many times taking few baths in the snow basically. I got very frustrated as I was not able to control the speed. So I did managed to get down eventually after falling and using the brakes as much as I could.

Eka kerta ei tietty alkanut lupaavasti suksien päällä. Vei aikansa, kun oppi tekniikan ja jarrutuksen. Kun lasten mäet akoi sujumaan, päätettiin mennä isompaan mäkeen. No sehän menikin kivasti. Laskin alas kaatuillen ja loppujen lopuksi pelkkästään jarrutellen.

After a little pause I got back on skis. I found a new rute that was a perfect for me! It called "la plana" (the flat). As its name it was flat and long and I loved it. I got a change to enjoy the ride with my own pace and do some practicing. I finally understood what is all that fuzz about skiing. Enjoying the outdoors, spectacular views, good exercise, adrenaline and time well spent with friends. I totally am going back! Next time I just want to do a lot better as now I have the touch.

Edellisestä laskusta kiukustuneena jäin pienelle tauolle. Lopulta kuitenkin pääsin takaisin mäkeen. Löysin itselleni täydellisen reitin, joka oli pitkä ja matala. Vihdoin sain tehdä oman laskun harjoitellen ajan kanssa. Löysin sen laskettelun ilon! Pakkohan se on jo päästä takaisin. Nyt ymmärrän miksi niin moni ihminen tuota lajia harrastaa. Urheilua luonnon helmassa. Ensi kerralla pitää vaan vetää paljon paremmin!

LET'S HAVE A CHAT

Hola mi gente bonita!

So it's been a while since the last time. Got to blame the winter. Although I did go to Finland last week! Holidays with the family always run by too fast. As I'm back to Barcelona I wanted to have a little chit-chat. I want to bring up a topic outside off the outdoor theme which is WORK!

WORK is a necessity for everybody, but it shouldn't be taken out off granted as I did. My history in a nutshell: I graduated from Finland 2016 and I moved to Barcelona at the beginning of 2017. My dream had always been to move abroad. So I did! I assumed that I would have better possibilities on my field over here. I was right but that's not all. One just doesn't move to another country and find a dream job!

Basically I started to build my career in Spain. In Finland I did an internship and finished my studies. I didn't know the language when I moved here. I arrived with realistic expectations but with a winner attitude. Since then I have got myself into the field I wanted to be. But finding a job with another language and building up your career in another country it ain't easy. I've had more downs than ups during my hunt of a perfect job. But I still haven't fallen! I stand tall and keep on pushing forward. At times I keep on thinking: "What if I've stayed to Finland? Would I have a better professional life?" But I have realized that yes it's more difficult in Spain but I did step out of my comfort zone, learned a new language and have managed to get more experience that I ever did in Finland. It's not easy but it's never meant to be when you decide to work abroad. Especially in Barcelona is very hard to find a permanent contract. They don't give away one that easily.

So where am I going now you may ask? Well I am in Barcelona struggling to find my place in the professional world! I've never been to give up (in Finland it's called 'SISU'). The easiest way would be moving back to Finland. But I'm not going to do so, not yet. I've sawn light at the end of the tunnel. I want to see how far I can go! Who knows what happens within the next years. Of one thing I am sure! I will keep on pushing as long as I breath! No one knows where you are in 5 or 2 years! As cliché as it sounds life is a journey of ups and downs. I am working for those ups! Stay positive! Stay strong!

Viime kerrasta on taas aikaa. Talven syy! Kävin Suomessa viime viikolla! Loma perheen kanssa menee aina liian nopeaa. Olessani takasin Barcelonassa halusin ottaa esille aiheen, joka on ulkoiluteeman ulkopuolella. Nimittäin TYÖ! TYÖ on monelle välttämätön paha, mutta on myös paljon henkilöitä kuten minä joille se ei ole itsestäänselvyys. Etenkään Espanjassa, jossa työmarkkinat ei ole niin hyvät mitä Suomessa tällä hetkellä. Oma tarinani pähkinänkuoressa: Valmistuin korkeakoulusta 2016 ja muutin Espanjaan 2017 vuoden alussa. Unelmani on aina ollut muutto ja työskentely ulkomailla. Sen tein! Oletin, että täällä minulla olisi enemmän mahdollisuuksia omalla alallani. Olin oikeassa, mutta se ei ole koko totuus. Yksi ei vain muuta toiseen maahan ja löydä unelma työpaikkaansa! 

Aloin rakentamaan uraani vasta Espanjassa. Suomessa kävin koulun loppuun. Keräsin kokemusta harjoittelun, vaihdon, koulun projektien ja järjestötoiminnan kautta. Työelämän omalla alallani aloitin vasta Barcelonassa. Odotukset olivat melko realistiset, mutta oletin jo olevani pidemmällä näiden 1,9v jälkeen. Asia ei tietty näin ole, sillä uran aloittaminen vieraassa maassa vieraalla kielellä on jo itsessään lähes mahdoton tehtävä. Lisäksi Espanjan työllisyystilanne on vaikea. Työntekijällä ei ole niitä samoja oikeuksia, miä kotimaassani. Olen monesti miettinyt sitä, miten hyvin asiat Suomessa oikeasti ovat. Olen kuitenkin periksiantamaton. Olen nähnyt oman mahdollisuuteni omille projekteille ja haluan katsoa miten pitkälle voin päästä. Vaikeudet ainakin kasvattaa, jos ei muuta. Enää en ota työtä itsestään selvyytenä. Espanjassa ei lahjoiteta vakkari sopparia ihan nuin vaan! Se on kiven alla. Jos sen saat, sinulla on jo melko hyvin asiat!

Niille ihmisille, jotka valittaa työoloista, pitkistä päivistä, huonosta palkasta tms. haluan sanoa yhden asian! Jos sinulla on vakkari soppari, katto pään päällä ja rahaa jää vielä ekstraa aktiviteetteihin yms. Sinulla on asiat ihan hyvin! Mikäli tulet toimeen hyvin eikä sinun tarvitse miettiä ruokakaupassa ostatko Rainbowta tai Valiota, sinulla on asiat ihan hyvin! Mikäli voit tukeutua liittoon, kun työnantaja k**ettaa, sinulla on asiat ihan hyvin! Mikäli sinulla on varaa maksaa lämmitys tai ilmastointi asuntoosi, kaikki on ihan hyvin!* Ajoittain ikävöin Suomea todella paljon, mutta täällä olen oppinut arvostamaan niitä pieniä asioita. Elämäni olen rakentanut Espanjaan, ja täällä olen onnellinen.

*tämä on minun henkilökohtainen mielipide omista kokemuksistani Espanjassa. Tiedostan sen, että Suomessakin on niitä, joilla ei ole paljoa. Haluan vain sanoa niille, joilla on perusasiat kunnossa, että sinulla on kaikki hyvin!*
