What's on top of the hill?
Hey,
So it happened. We reached the new decade, 2020. By the last few weeks I've been full with work and traveling. So I'll have this short recap a little bit late.
Let's start with going through what heppened during the holidays. I spent the Christmas with my family in Finland for the first time in 4 years. I was planning to go there as soon as I would have the possibility. I couldn't have ended the year in a better way. I enjoyed my time with my niece and family in a snowy Finland, ate well, took a lot of sauna and shared some presents.
Niin se vain tapahtui! Saavutimme uuden vuosikymmenen.
Straight after my holidays I started to work in a new place. I found myself back in the retails with more responsilbilites. Since then it's been mainly work. The New Year we recieved together with my boyfriend and a group of friends. We didn't have a big party. Just us and good food, as we like the best.
The first day of the year we had our first trip with the motorcycle. Accompanied by friends we went to the Garraf National Park to see a Buddist Temple which is located on top of a mountain in the the heart of Catalonia. How strange is that right? The place was such a dream for a photographer. I couldn't stop taking photos. Here are some of them.
Vuoden ensimmäisenä päivänä me tehtiin ensimmäinen retki moottoripyörällä. Mentiin Garrafin luonnonpuistoon, jonka päälle on rakennettu buddhalainen temppeli. Aika jännä löytää buddhalainen temppeli keskeltä Katalonian luontoa.
The next bank holiday we went to Tona to see a church located on top of (another) hill. There we were able to see the whole glory of the village. The scenery looked like we were in Scotland. So I took some more photos. I couldn't leave anywhere without my camera anymore. The beauty is everywhere.
Seuraavana pyhäpäivänä me menimme Tonan kylään vierailemaan (taas) vuoren nyppylän päällä olevassa kirkossa. Kukkulan päältä näimme kylän koko komeudessaan. Näkymät olivat kuin Skotlannissa. Tämäkin paikka oli niin kuvuksellinen. En voisi mennä enää mihinkään ilman kameraa.
Don't want to go through what happened in 2019 because that is already in the past and we can only look forward. In a nuttshell gotta say that the 2020 has had a kickass start. When I'm working like crazy I enjoy more of the free time I have. Right now I have one week off. Therefore this weekend we're going to another trip. Can you guess where we're going? One tip: It'll be a snowy place! Gonna talk more about it next time.
En halua käydä läpi mitä tapahtui 2019 vuonna, sillä se on jo menneisyyttä. 2020 on alkanut raketin lailla. Tehdessäni töitä hullun lailla nautin enemmän vapaa-ajasta. Tällä hetkellä minulla on lomaviikko. Siitä syystä lähdemme huomenna viikonloppureisuun. Siitä kertoilen seuraavalla kerralla enemmän. Arvaatko minne mennään? Ensimmäinen vihje: Kyseessä on luminen paikka.
Hasta Luego!

November Thoughts
Hey you,
It's almost the end of the year. Soon gotta do a recap about what has happened. Past few months have been complicated with it's ups and downs. These changes forced me to have a good look in the mirror and accept my faults as well as the way I've treated myself. These months have been a time of growing emotionally. I've become more aware of myself and others. I have been struggeling for a long time now of what I really want to do. Therefore I started to do things that I love in order to clear my head.
I've been doing yoga and boxing as well as taking photos. I got myself my first ever gig of photography while taking some pictures of a friend's nail salon opening party (you can see some of them on this post). I have to take care of myself first. I realised that I have to take risks and put myself out there. It's not easy as sometimes I rather stay in my comfort zone. When the comfort zone was taken away from me I had to become brave again. These months and the whole year has been about slowing down, learning to love myself and trust in the journey. As they say, nothing good comes easily. Luckily I'm Finnish and will always have that "sisu". I finally found a course that suits me well. I will start studying in January. Besides that I want to become better in photography. Next year is time to bring up the big guns.
I've been thinking about this whole social media scene. I have been in Instagram since the first years having now only few hundred followers. The reason I have Instagram is because I like to take photos and share them. One interesting thing that I've realised is that the photos I publish of myself get more likes than photos of landscapes i.e. This made me curious. The biggest influencers (who have most followers) in Instagram mainly share photos of themselves. Why is that?
My question to you my dear reader is:
I believe that we would have less mental issues and eating disorders without Instagram. Since the beginning of time there has been "an ideal body type" for women/men but now a days it's more out there. When I was a teenager I mainly compared myself to the other girls in my school not that much what I saw in the media. Today you can see these perfectly beautiful models in Instagram all day long.
Luckily today's body image is healthier than what we used to have in the 90's. What everybody should understand about the fashion industry is that models look like they do because it's their profession. It doesn't come easily. It's a lot of hard work. If you don't want to be a model you don't need to look like one. Of course this is not so clear when you're a 15 year old teenager. Luckily the new movement of body positivity is changing the game.
I believe that at some point the social media will fall. Social media brings so many good things as much as bad (i.e addiction to your phone and low selfesteem). It has been said many times but I say it again: What you see in Social Media is not real life! More and more girls are using lip and face fillers, lash extensions etc. This happens i.e. in my home country. I am not judging as I would love to have lash extensions and a microblading too. I just feel like to you need to do these changes out of love to yourself not hate.
Compared to Spain, where I live now, the trendy is to be natural. Catalan teenagers hardly use make up and they look stunning. I personally feel like I use too much make up compared to them. But what I've realised within these 27 years is that the most important thing is to do what you love, lots of exercise, water and a good diet. That takes you a long way already. I think learning to accept yourself the way you are is a journey of a lifetime. For some it comes easier than the others. I think they should teach more about psychology, understanding yourself and your emotions in high schools. It would also be good to be taught how to cope with stress on a daily basis. These are real issues that the thirth world countries are dealing with and these things affect everything you do in life. Love within is the answer for a good and a happy life. Cliche but true.
PS: I'm writing about these things because I had issues with my body image when I was younger. Sometimes I still struggle with that. I always thought that I was too muscular to be a teenager. Thankfully now a days that is "trendy". This is purely my personal opinion about social media a body image.

Free like a kite
Hello world!
Few Sundays ago we went to do some kite/wind surf in Castelldefels. I got a perfect opporunity to take my first action photos with my new Olympus. Here I'll present you few shots I took.
Muutama sunnuntai sitten me käytiin harjoittelemassa hieman leijalautailua Castelldefelsissä.

I would have so many more photos to choose from. But I believe it's better to cut it short. I hope you enjoyed these few shots from our beach day few weeks ago.

Estepona - Andalucia
Hey guys!Sorry for skipping the France part 3. So we did go to Marselle and spent it splendidly. Anyhow reason I want to skip it's been rather long since the trip and the fact that I bought my very first camera! After a looong searching I ended up buying a simple mirroless Olympus OM-D E-M10. Mark II. It fit to my budget and feels like a good camera to start shooting. Next time I would go up to the M5.
Seuraavalla kerralla valitsisin M5-mallin.
I had my thrid week of holidays this year and decided to got to Estepona in Andalucia for few days to meet a friend of mine. The trip in general was super nice althoug I caught a food poisoning so the last day was kinda ruined. Anyhow I was able to take some shots and practice with my new toy. I still have a lot to learn.
Kolmannella lomaviikollani matkustin Andaluciaan vierailemaan lapsuuden ystäväni luona. Reissu meni oikein kivasti lukuunottamatta viimeisen päivän ruokamyrkytystä. Siitä huolimatta pääsin kokeilemaan uutta kameraani käytönnössä. Opettalua vielä vaatii kameran käyttö.
Here you can see some of the pictures I took and the quality of the camera. It has 16.1 megapixels and Live-MOS sensor. It's a nice and easy miroless camera for beginners with a touch screen,
Untill the next one peeps!
Seuraavaan kertaan!

France Part 2
Salut France!
Waking up in a van and gazing at the pure nature outside with a cup of coffee in my hand. I couldn't ask more. We packed our stuff to the van and continued the journey. This day was all about the beach and kite surf (unfortunately I'm not practicing kite myself.. yet). We drove to Sete and spent the day on the beach called Plage Baleine. We spent the night in Le Grau-du Roi where we were caught up by a thunderstorm.
Me ajettiin Sete nimiseen kylään ja vietettiin päivä rannalla nimeltä Baleine. Vietimme yön Le Grau-du Roi nimisellä paikalla turvassa ukkoselta.

We started with a very mediterranean vegetation (we saw horses and bulls) and ended up driving roads
that could've been from Arizona or La Pampa from Chile (as I imagine it to be). The roads wondered
around very dry almost desert like landscapes. The sea had dried out, or the sea level had gone down,
because there were big valleys of salt. I couldn't think of I'd be in France. This was something surreal.
We finally reached our destination, the beach. The camping area was in the middle of a desert.
The beach was around 500 meters away. The heat was intolerable. We hit the beach, enjoyed the
sun and some kitesurf because that's why we came here for. As we did not have ice or any cold
drinks we had to abandon the place and we slept in Martigues where we could have a shower.
The next day was the time to see Marseilles...

France Part 1
Bonsoir!
Here again after 6 months. So we had this trip to France with a camping van last week. After working the full year it was time to plan the vacation of the year. We drove from Barcelona to Marselle by discovering the French coast line. This trip was nothing to do with the luxury hotels and pools. It was all about beach living with all the basics you need and enjoying life as its purest.
Täällä taas 6 kuukauden jälkeen. Vuosittainen loma vietettiin ajellen Ranskan rannikkoa vuokrapakulla.
On this first post I will be taking you through our first day when we crossed the border of Spain and France seeing all those beautiful little Mediterranean villages. Our first stop was Cadaquez in Spain. It is said to be the most beautiful village in Spain by some outsources. I wouldn't deny it. We stopped by the Far del Cap de Creus a coast line over the sea. The heat was hitting hard but the view was worth it. The roads were spectacular with its tremendous geological formations.
Tässä ekassa postauksessa kerron ensimmäisestä reissupäivästä, jolloin me ylitettiin raja Ranskan puolelle. Me ajettiin rannikon mutkikkaita teitä kauniiden Välimeren kylien läpi.
From there we continued to the France. We crossed the border by driving over a mountain, and narrow roads, that separates those two countries. We arrived to France safe and sound. A little stop to admire our conquest and we continued driving to our first accommodation for the night. We stayed on a little bay inner land in Port Leucate. The place was quiet so that we could enjoy a good night sleep.
Sieltä matka jatkui Ranskaan. Ylitimme rajan mutkittelevia teitä pitkin korkean vuoren yli.
So the first day was a success. We drove over 300 km by crossing the border of France. I remembered why I fell in love with France the time when I was 15 years old. On the next post our journey will continue..
Elikkä ensimmäinen yö oli oikea menestys, lukuun ottamatta niitä itikoita.. Me ajettiin ekana päivänä yli 300 kilometriä ylittäen rajan. Seuraavassa postauksessa matka jatkuu

LET'S GO TO SKI
Hello everybody!
So this is what happened! A woman who has lived her whole life nearby the ski resort went to down hill ski, for her first time, in Catalunya! Quite embarrasing eh? Well I've never really been a winter person. I did do ice skating and cross hill skiing but never even tried a snowboard Well what do you know! I had to try it someday didn't I? But I gotta say that I LOVED IT!
So we went to Masella ski resort up to Pyrenees. We took a coach from Barcelona to Masella around 6:30 am. The trip takes around 2,5 h along the breathtaking area of Pyrenees. The coach returns at 6 pm so you have enough time to have some fun in the snow. The whole day costs only 72€ that includes renting the gear and transportation.
Me mentiin Masellaan, joka on Pyreneillä Espanjan puolella. Koko reissu maksoi 72€, johon kuuluu bussimatkat ja laitevuokra. Ei paha yhtään!

So as it was my first time on skis (only down hill ones). I did grumble and stumble at first. After the slow start I quickly cathed up the game. As the chidlren's hill started to feel easy we went all the way to the biggest ones. So what happened? The hill was steeper and longer than I expected. I stumpeled and fell so many times taking few baths in the snow basically. I got very frustrated as I was not able to control the speed. So I did managed to get down eventually after falling and using the brakes as much as I could.
Eka kerta ei tietty alkanut lupaavasti suksien päällä. Vei aikansa, kun oppi tekniikan ja jarrutuksen. Kun lasten mäet akoi sujumaan, päätettiin mennä isompaan mäkeen. No sehän menikin kivasti. Laskin alas kaatuillen ja loppujen lopuksi pelkkästään jarrutellen.
After a little pause I got back on skis. I found a new rute that was a perfect for me! It called "la plana" (the flat). As its name it was flat and long and I loved it. I got a change to enjoy the ride with my own pace and do some practicing. I finally understood what is all that fuzz about skiing. Enjoying the outdoors, spectacular views, good exercise, adrenaline and time well spent with friends. I totally am going back! Next time I just want to do a lot better as now I have the touch.
Urheilua luonnon helmassa. Ensi kerralla pitää vaan vetää paljon paremmin!

LET'S HAVE A CHAT
Hola mi gente bonita!
So it's been a while since the last time. Got to blame the winter. Although I did go to Finland last week! Holidays with the family always run by too fast. As I'm back to Barcelona I wanted to have a little chit-chat. I want to bring up a topic outside off the outdoor theme which is WORK!
WORK is a necessity for everybody, but it shouldn't be taken out off granted as I did. My history in a nutshell: I graduated from Finland 2016 and I moved to Barcelona at the beginning of 2017. My dream had always been to move abroad. So I did! I assumed that I would have better possibilities on my field over here. I was right but that's not all. One just doesn't move to another country and find a dream job!
Basically I started to build my career in Spain. In Finland I did an internship and finished my studies. I didn't know the language when I moved here. I arrived with realistic expectations but with a winner attitude. Since then I have got myself into the field I wanted to be. But finding a job with another language and building up your career in another country it ain't easy. I've had more downs than ups during my hunt of a perfect job. But I still haven't fallen! I stand tall and keep on pushing forward. At times I keep on thinking: "What if I've stayed to Finland? Would I have a better professional life?" But I have realized that yes it's more difficult in Spain but I did step out of my comfort zone, learned a new language and have managed to get more experience that I ever did in Finland. It's not easy but it's never meant to be when you decide to work abroad. Especially in Barcelona is very hard to find a permanent contract. They don't give away one that easily.
So where am I going now you may ask? Well I am in Barcelona struggling to find my place in the professional world! I've never been to give up (in Finland it's called 'SISU'). The easiest way would be moving back to Finland. But I'm not going to do so, not yet. I've sawn light at the end of the tunnel. I want to see how far I can go! Who knows what happens within the next years. Of one thing I am sure! I will keep on pushing as long as I breath! No one knows where you are in 5 or 2 years! As cliché as it sounds life is a journey of ups and downs. I am working for those ups! Stay positive! Stay strong!
Viime kerrasta on taas aikaa. Talven syy!
Aloin rakentamaan uraani vasta Espanjassa. Lisäksi Espanjan työllisyystilanne on vaikea. Olen kuitenkin periksiantamaton.
Sinulla on asiat ihan hyvin!
That's all for now folks! Until next time!

THE ROCK CLIMBERS' LAND
Hello beautiful people!
Happy Octobre! Autum is officially here! Mornings have become chillier and darker. Few weeks ago for the sake of another bank holiday we decided to go camping to the mountains in Siurana near to Tarragona. We spent two days by the rock climbers' heaven.
Heippa kaikki!
Hyvää Lokakuuta! Syys on saapunut myös Espanjaan! Aamut ovat viileämpiä ja pimeämpiä. Pari viikko sitten lähdimme pyhäpäivän johdosta telttailemaan vuorille Siuranaan, Tarragonaan. Vietimme 2 päivää vuorikiipeilijöiden paratiisissa.
The first day we had a basic BBQ and got to know the surroundings including the nearest village constructed on top of the rocks. Everyhting was like in a movie.
The second day we spent hiking. With some spectacular views we had a nice walk down the mountain all the way to the bottom. After that a dipp in the natural pool made by the mountain river and another 50 minutes steep hike back to the top of the mountain. It all felt like a dream and I got a hunger for more. Gotta love this life that motorbike offers to us!
Seuraava päivä vietettiin vuorivaelluksessa. Kävelimme jyrkän vuoren rinteen alas. Pohjalta löysimme vuorijoen muodostaman altaan, jossa virkistäydyimme ja nautimme aurinkoisesta päivästä. Paluu oli nousu jyrkkää rinnettä takaisin 50 minuuttia. Olimme väsyneitä, mutta niin onnellisia. Kiitos moottoripyörällemme, että voimme elää tällaista elämää.
I hope you enjoyed the fotos! Untill next time!
Toivottavasti nautitte kuvista! Seuraavaan kertaan!

THROUGH WALLS
It's been a while since I've been active here once again. My promised second post of Finland is coming up shortly after some technical difficulties. This time I'm going to make a round up of what is going on in my life.
Firstly I am happy to say that after weeks of +35 Celsius degrees the temperature is tolerable. It finally feels like you can do something without sweating your a** off.
Secondly I've had an amazing summer so far! Been enjoying the time with friends and loved ones. And a lot of Beach! I also started boxing which I find the most enjoyable form of exercise that I've had in a long time.
Moikka kaikki!
Taas on vierähtänyt aikaa viime kerrasta! Lupaamani Juhannus postaus on tulossa pian pienten teknisten vaikeuksien jälkeen. Tällä kertaa haluan kerrata mitä mun elämässä on meneillään!
After Finland I've been hunting a new job. Finally is time for something that I have a passion for. Unfortunately I found myself lost within a punch of questions: What do I wanna do? What direction should I take on my career? What is my career? Should I follow on the path I took or change it completely? What is the next step? How can I express my creativity? I have found it hard to keep my focus! Is easy to tell that the jungle of work is not easy. Even more for a foreigner in Spain. Although I've realized that everything tend to work out one way or another. This time I hope it turns to my favour.
Suomi reissun jälkeen olen etsinyt uutta työtä. Päätin, että vihdoin on aika tehdä jotain mistä tykkään. Valitettavasti löysin itseni jumissa kysymysten keskellä: Mitä haluan tehdä? Minkä suunnan ottaisin urallani? Mikä on minun ura? Pitäisikö minun jatkaa sillä tiellä jonka valitsin, vai vaihtaa suuntaa? Mikä on seuraava askel? Kaikella on kuitenkin tapana järjestyä! Tällä kertaa toivon, että järjestyisi mieluisasti!
The pressure is real! By having a support system here in Spain and back home in Finland. Having people who believe in me when I don't believe in myself. All this makes it easier not to give up! In life you need to keep pushing because nothing worthy comes easily.
Paine on kova! He uskovat minuun silloin, kun itse en usko. Täten en luovuta!
That's all now folks! Next time is coming the San Juan post of Finland!
Siinä kaikki tällä kertaa! Ensi kerralla fiilsitellään Juhannusta!
